The Hart Family Scholarship Awards were presented to the girl and boy winners at the 31st annual Senior Athletes & Band / Warriorette Recognition Breakfast held at the Wayne Booster Community Center on Wednesday May 11, 2005. The Huber Heights Athletic Foundation presented the scholarships to Jenna Lipscomb, and Scott Shrewsbury. Making the presentation was Scholarship Committee Chairman Ronnie Redd, Huber Heights Athletic Foundation President Mark Bruns, (both Wayne Alumni) and Lou Hart.

The Hart Family Scholarship Award was started by Ed Hart who was a leader in the City of Huber Heights as well as in the Huber Heights School district. Ed was the founder of the Huber Heights Athletic Foundation.  He provided leadership and funding for many of the improvements and activities enjoyed by students in our schools today. Because of that leadership, the Huber Heights Athletic Foundation decided to establish a scholarship program in his honor in 1995. Ed passed away in January of 2005, and his legacy still lives through this scholarship.

The Hart Family Scholarship Award is awarded to a female athlete and male athlete. The amount of the scholarship is $ 2000.00 a year for four years. Scholarship Chairman Ronnie Redd said that there were fifteen applicants that were screened, and that the final decision was a hard one, because all the applicants did a fantastic job. He thanked all the members of the screening committee.
